MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home for a five-game homestand beginning Tuesday afternoon at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex looking to get back on track beginning with Florida A&M.
First pitch is set for 4 pm (CT) between the two, and due to COVID-19 protocols and socially distant seating the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex remains a Player Pass List only entry facility. All concessions remain cashless, and Alabama State University remains mask-mandatory.
Alabama State (12-17) and Florida A&M last met in Tallahassee (Fla.) back on March 30 with the Rattlers coming away with a 15-14 victory. Florida A&M was able to come back from a 14-6 deficit, scoring nine runs combined in the eighth and ninth innings for the win.
Trenton Jamison (.402/.667/.462) continues to lead the Hornets at the plate with 16 extra base hits including eight doubles and seven home runs. He has also scored 27 runs and driven in another 34 for Alabama State in 28 games.
Cristopher DeGuzman (.352/.491/.421) has added five doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs; while
AJ Gardner (.337/.539/.398) has added four home runs and 20 runs batted in for the Hornets.
Payton Harris (0-1, 1.82 ERA) leads the Hornets out of the bullpen allowing just seven runs (five earned) in 24.2 innings with 38 strikeouts, while
Ryan Velazquez (0-0, 2.93 ERA) has added 24 strikeouts in 15.1 innings.
Breon Pooler (2-2, 3.12 ERA) leads all starters for the Hornets with 46 strikeouts in 40.1 innings, while
Jordan Gould (4-1, 4.05 ERA) as struck out 36 in 33.1 innings thus far this season.
The Hornets will remain home for a non-conference weekend series against Grambling State (April 16-18) and a mid-week non-conference game against South Alabama (April 20).
