MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will head north to face North Alabama Wednesday night, facing the Lions for the second time this season with first pitch set for 5 pm.
The game will be carried on ESPN+.
Alabama State (19-17) has three regular season non-conference games remaining on the schedule and just six overall to wrap up play prior to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament. The Hornets won the first meeting between the two teams in Montgomery back on April 6, winning the contest 10-3 while pounding out 14 hits.
Trenton Jamison (.397/.649/.468) continues to lead Alabama State in hitting through 36 games. The redshirt sophomore has recorded a team-high 60 hits with 20 of those (10 doubles/2 triples/8 home runs) being for extra bases. He has also scored 39 runs and drove in another 40 for Alabama State this season. Meanwhile,
Cristopher DeGuzman (.369/.518/.438) has recorded 52 hits with 13 (7 doubles/4 triples/2 home runs) being for extra bases, while scoring 34 runs and knocking in another 28.
Hunter May (.329/.519/.527) has recorded nine doubles and a pair of home runs, while
Jabronski Williams (.323/.481/.467) has collected 11 (5 doubles/2 triples/4 home runs) extra base hits and stolen eight bases. A.J. Gardner (.311/.491/.368) and
Santiago Garcia (.305/.610/.423) have combined for 11 home runs on the season.
On the mound,
Payton Harris (2-1/1.22 ERA) leads the team in earned run average out of the bullpen, picking up a pair of saves and striking out 53 in 37.0 innings this season. Meanwhile,
Ryan Velazquez (0-0/2.76 ERA) has recorded 26 strikeouts in 16.1 innings, while
Breon Pooler (4-2/3.46 ERA) has recorded 68 strikeouts to lead Alabama State in 52.0 innings and 10 starts.
The game marks the first of four this week for Alabama State, who returns home on Friday for a three-game set against Alabama A&M in a series in which the Hornets will honor their seniors playing their final home series.
