DALLAS, Texas | Alabama State earned a second-place finish in their first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundup of the season as action wrapped up on Sunday at the USA Bowl.

Alabama State (49-29, 9-5 SWAC) dropped their first match of day three by just seven pins in a 880-873 loss to Prairie View A&M, but rebounded by defeating their next three opponents to close out the tournament.

The Hornets defeated Grambling 877-614, followed by Southern 839-713, and finally Florida A&M 915-698 to close out play. They found themselves third on the weekend with a 9-5 record, however scored the most pins with 12,121 – 123 more than the next best team.

Savanna Razor (Columbia, S.C.) led the way for Alabama State, finishing third overall in the individual standings with 2,513 pins, averaging 179.5 pins per game. Meanwhile
Emily Price (Morgan City, La.) finished fifth with 1,606 pins, averaging 178.44 per game, followed by
Bailee Chapman (Gonzales, La.) also finished in the top ten with 2,486 pins (177.57 average), good for eighth.

Lyric O'Steen (Southfield, Mich.) and
Alahna DeGruy (Kenner, La.) finished 18th and 19th with 2,376 (169.86 avg) and 1,015 (169.17) total pins respectively, while
Emani Davis (Flushing, Mich.) finished in the top 25 with 2,123 pins on the weekend.
UP NEXT
Alabama State will return to competition next month for the SWAC East Roundup, located in D'Iberville, Miss. Beginning on Friday, February 4.
