MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to action in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play against Alcorn State inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Monday night on Student Spirit Night.
The game is scheduled to tip at 8 pm and is part of a doubleheader with the women's program, with COVID-19 protocols in place. Beginning this week, each entrant into the arena must have a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours and must show proof along with a ticket to enter the game. All tickets are being sold online and in person at the ASU Ticket Office located at ASU Stadium (football).
Masks are required to be worn at all times on the Alabama State campus.
Alabama State and Alcorn State have met 86 times in school history, with the Hornets leading the series 45-41. However, Alcorn State has won the last five meetings dating back to February 2019.

GAME NOTES
- Alabama State is looking for their first win in the series over Alcorn State since a 74-59 win back on February 23, 2019, with the Braves winning the last five meetings.
- The Hornets are off to their best start in conference play since the 2018-19 season in which they won six of their first seven conference games.
- Tonight's game is the second of three consecutive home games with the final game coming on Saturday against Alabama A&M.
- Kenny Strawbridge (Rockford, Ill.) was named the SWAC Player of the Week after his 27-point performance against Mississippi Valley State on Monday night. The award is the third for Alabama State as junior forward Gerald Liddell (Cibolo, Texas), who missed Monday night's game at Mississippi Valley State, was named the SWAC Impact Player of the Week after scoring 16 points on the road against then-No. 16/17 Texas. Strawbridge (Rockford, Ill.) also won the award the week of December 15.
- Alabama State had a season-low 11 turnovers against Jackson State, while getting to the line 36 times (30 makes) in the conference victory. The Hornets also scored a season-high 50 points in the second half (season-high).
- Alabama State has played a pair of teams that were ranked at the time (Texas and Texas Tech) and played Iowa State who climbed to as high as eighth this week in the polls. They also played Iowa (receiving votes), before games against No. 4/3 UCLA and Memphis (receiving votes) were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols inside their opponents' programs.
- The Hornets have the fourth toughest schedule in the country according to ESPN trailing only conference foes Prairie View A&M, Alcorn State, and Texas Southern.
