Shamia Jones and Abdiqadir Mohamed Set To Represent Alabama State in NCAA Cross Country South Regionals

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State juniors Abdiqadir Mohamed (London, United Kingdom) and Shamia Jones (Albany, Ga.) will represent Alabama State in the 2022 NCAA Cross Country South Regionals in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, November 11, 2022, at John Junt Cross Country Park.

Abdiqadir Mohamed's season was highlighted by a record-breaking 8K performance at the UAB Blazer Classic (Oct. 14). Mohamed clocked in at 24:26.80 and finished in tenth place at the event. Mohamed received SWAC Runner of the Week honors the following week.

Shamia Jones was named All-SWAC second team after finishing the conference championship 5k in sixth place out of 72 runners. Jones clocked in at 19:58.1 to lead the way for the Lady Hornets.

The women's 6K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the men's 10K at 9:30 a.m.
