GAME NOTES

• Alabama State hosted the season-opening Stinger Classic tournament, going 2-2 over the weekend with wins over Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 11) and College of Charleston (Feb. 12).
• The Hornets recently received a vote in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. This is the second week they have earned a vote, after the original poll was released in the preseason.
• Junior Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) excelled in her Hornet debut, striking out 17 batters in the season opener against Purdue Fort Wayne, while also adding four RBI off three hits at the plate. She is hitting .500 through four games, including six hits, six RBI and a run scored.
• Wednesday's doubleheader will be the eighth and ninth meetings between the programs all-time, with the Bulldogs holding a 7-0 advantage. Three of the games so far have been in Starkville.
• Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.) recorded a team-high seven hits and five scores over the weekend, including all three runs in the win over the Cougars on Saturday.
• Mississippi State is coming off a 35-25 season in 2021, earning a spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
• The Bulldogs are 1-3 so far this season, with their lone win against Loyola Marymount (Feb. 11). They have losses to Oklahoma (Feb. 11), UCLA (Feb. 12), and Loyola Marymount (Feb. 13).
