MONTGOMERY Ala. | Alabama State will compete for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season championship in the second leg of conference competition at the SWAC East Roundup in D'Iberville (Miss.) this weekend.
The event will take place at Cypress Lanes and run Friday (February 4) through Sunday (February 6), with five matches each on Friday and Saturday. The event concludes on Sunday with four matches, with the regular season champion determined on the final day of competition.
The Lady Hornets find themselves in a tie for second place with Jackson State heading into the final weekend of conference competition. They trail Prairie View A&M (11-3 SWAC) in the conference standings and are one game up on Texas Southern (8-6). Individually,
Savanna Razor (Columbia, S.C.) enters the weekend in third place overall, with
Emily Price (Morgan City, La.) entering the weekend in fifth place and
Bailee Chapman (Gonzales, La.) in eighth.
Alabama State (49-29, 9-5 SWAC) begins the tournament on Friday with matches against Texas Southern, Jackson State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, and Grambling State. They will follow that up with five matches on Saturday beginning Southern, Florida A&M, Texas Southern, Jackson State, and Alabama A&M.
The final day of the event will feature matches against Prairie View A&M, Grambling State, Southern, and Florida A&M.
The event will be live streamed on Facebook via Alabama State Bowling.
