MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the field for the first time in over week to open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Sunday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex, facing Florida A&M in a three-game series. The series starts with a doubleheader on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm, followed by a single game at 12 noon on Monday.
Alabama State (8-12) last played in the Black & Gold Tournament back on March 5 before being forced to postpone their midweek game with No. 21 Auburn and moving the series with the Rattlers back from an initial Friday start.

About the Hornets
- Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) and Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) swept the SWAC honors this week with Greenlee going 1-2 in four outings last week, including dropping a game in eight innings to ULM. She finished with 13 strikeouts in 20.0 innings. Meanwhile, Dodd hit .438 over the five-game span, going 7-for-16 in the contests.
- Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.) leads the team in hitting at .397 this season with 27 hits. She has scored 15 runs and stolen 14 bases (in 16 attempts) through the first 20 games. Meanwhile, Dodd is hitting .372, while Kiana Parrish (Stockton, Calif.) is hitting at .340 clip with three doubles and 10 RBIs.
- Madison Myers (Brownsville, Tenn.) and Alex Massie (Pottsboro, Texas) are each over .300 for the year.
- Greenlee (5-7) leads the team with a 2.77 earned run average and has struck out 61 batters in 70.2 innings.
The Series
- Alabama State and Florida A&M have met seven times since 2011, with Florida A&M holding a 5-2 advantage. They won the last game of the series 9-1 on April 7, 2021, in Montgomery – the second game of a doubleheader.
- Prior to the game two loss, Alabama State had won back-to-back meetings in the series including a 10-1 (six innings) victory at Troy on February 7, 2015.
