MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State opens Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this weekend, hosting Florida A&M at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex beginning Friday. The series is scheduled to begin at 6 pm on Friday, followed by a single game on Saturday at 6 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm.
The weather could play a factor in the series with a 100 percent of rain on Friday, followed by sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday. Alabama State (8-9) enters the weekend after winning three consecutive weekend series in conference play. The Hornets and Florida A&M have met 23 times since 2005 with Alabama State holding a 13-10 lead in the series including winning the last two games in the series.
The two teams met earlier this year in the second game of the year at the Andre Dawson MLB Classic in New Orleans (La.) with the Hornets winning 9-6 in a game that was aired on MLBTV.

- This weekend marks the first series in SWAC play for both teams in the East Division and will mark the 24th meeting all-time between the two with the series opener. The Hornets are looking for their fourth consecutive series win on a weekend having won series over UT-Martin, St. Bonaventure, and Grambling State over the previous three.
