Hornets look to stay atop the conference after conference opening sweep

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for the first time in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this weekend, heading to Daytona Beach (Fla.) to face Bethune-Cookman in a three-game set beginning Friday. The two teams meet in the first game of the series at 2 pm on Friday before a doubleheader that starts at 12 noon on Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (11-12, 3-0 SWAC) enters the weekend after a weekend sweep of Florida A&M in a series that was moved to Sunday-Monday due to weather. The Hornets were scheduled to meet Tuskegee in a doubleheader on Tuesday, but those games were rained out. The Hornets were one of two teams to sweep the opening weekend, joining Texas Southern, and are one of three teams who are undefeated in the East Division.
