MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State clinched their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series over Florida A&M with a 7-2 victory at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Saturday night and look for the sweep on Sunday.
Alabama State (10-9, 2-0) used a four-run first inning to pull away from Florida A&M, using nine hits throughout the game.
Hunter May (Slidell, La.) led Alabama State at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double, while
Osvaldo Mendez (Carolina, PR) came out of the bullpen, working 5.2 innings of relief and not allowing a baserunner. He finished with six strikeouts for the Hornets.

- T1 | Grant Rowell put Florida A&M on the scoreboard first with a sacrifice fly (1-0, FAMU).
- B1 | Alabama State took the lead on an Angel Jimenez (Santo Domingo, DR) two-run double, before May doubled home two more (4-1, Alabama State).
- T4 | Jalen Niles got Florida A&M back on the scoreboard with an RBI double (4-2, Alabama State).
- B5 | The Hornets used a sacrifice fly by Jimenez to drive in a run, before Christian Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) drew a bases loaded walk (6-2, Alabama State).
- B8 | Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) drove in a run on an infield single (7-2, Alabama State).
