NASHVILLE, Tenn. | Alabama State won all three of its matches on Sunday at the Music City Classic to finish 19th overall, including knocking off No. 16 Sacred Heart in the first match.
The Hornets started off the day with a 4-3 victory over Sacred Heart after winning the first game of the day. Alabama State and Sacred Heart split the first two games before the Hornets went up 2-1 with a 193-178 victory, followed by Sacred Heart evening the match with a 196-164 victory in game four. The two teams would split the next two games before Alabama State moved to the next round with a 200-160 victory in the seventh game.
In the next round, Alabama State breezed past Drury 4-0 with a 69-pin win in the opening game to ease to the win. After winning 189-161 in game two, the Hornets won by 53 pins in the third game and clinched with a 148-130 win in the fourth.
The last match of the day saw Alabama State defeat Valparaiso 4-3 after winning the first game 197-176. The two teams would split each game with the Hornets going up 3-2 with a 188-179 win in game five, before Valparaiso evened things up with a win in game six. Alabama State put the match away with a clinching 183-180 victory in the seventh game.
