HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State clinched the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season championship with a 4-0 sweep of Alabama A&M on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles Play
- Alabama State captured the doubles point with wins at number two and three to clinch the point. The Hornets picked up the win at number two, with the team of Ruan Du Preez (Cape Town, South Africa) and Samrakshyak Bajracharya (Kathmandu, Nepal) picking up a 6-3 victory.
- The team of David Jeanne Grandinot (Lisieux, France) and Niila Magga (Oulu, Finland) picked up a 7-5 victory at number three to clinch the win, while the match at number one was tied at 6-all when play was called.
Singles Play
- Alabama State claimed three singles victories including at number one where Chris Andre (Berlin, Germany) picked up a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory – one of three three-set matches (number two and three did not finish) on the day.
- Grandinot picked up a 6-3, 7-6 victory at number four, while Matis Amier (Eperney, France) picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory at number five to help wrap up the regular season championship.

Alabama State returns to action on Friday (April 1) against UAB at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center with the match scheduled to begin at 1 pm, the first of three consecutive home matches to end the season.
