MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State and Troy met just one week ago and will meet again on Tuesday night for the third consecutive year at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium with the Hornets hosting their fourth game at the downtown venue.
Both teams enter the midweek contest following series losses on the road. Alabama State (12-12) enters the contest following a 6-3 win over Bethune-Cookman in the final game of their series on Sunday
Payton Harris (Hattiesburg, Miss.) picking up the win in relief and
Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) picking up three hits in the win. Meanwhile, Troy used the long ball to beat UT-Arlington in the final game of their series, using a pair of home runs to pick up the win.
The Trojans won the first meeting of the season over Alabama State 11-1 at Riddle-Pace Field on March 22. In that contest, the Trojans put together back-to-back four-run innings to break open a 2-1 game in the fifth and six innings.

- Before their weekend series loss to Bethune-Cookman, the Hornets had won their previous four weekend series over UT-Martin, St. Bonaventure, Grambling State, and Florida A&M. Tonight's game is the lone midweek game of the week for the Hornets.

- Kevin Matos (San Juan, PR) will get his third start of the season when he toes the rubber on Tuesday. The freshman is 0-2 on the season with his last start coming against Troy In his previous start against Samford, the Hornets in a walk-off win for the Bulldogs. Matos did not figure into the decision of that game.
- Angel Jimenez (Santo Domingo, DR) leads the team in hitting at .354 with six doubles and three home runs. He has scored 19 runs and driven in 21 so far this season. He is joined at .350 or better by Hunter May (Slidell, La.) who is hitting .350 on the season with 10 doubles and four home runs. He has driven in 19 total runs on the year.
- Corey King (Lithonia, Ga.) is hitting .343 from the leadoff position for the Hornets with 34 hits (three doubles, two triples, five home runs) and 22 runs scored. He has also driven in 24 RBI. Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR) is hitting .309, Lewis .306, and Ian Matos (Toa Alta, PR) .300 for the Hornets.
- On the mound, Breon Pooler (Huntsville, Ala.) is 4-0 with a 1.50 earned run average while Harris is 1-2 with a 2.42 earned run average to lead the Hornets. As a team, Alabama State has a 5.04 ERA and has struck out 205 batters.

- Troy had their nine-game winning streak snapped on the road at UT-Arlington this weekend and are led by Trey Leonard at .367 on the season. He has scored 12 times and driven in 11 RBI in just 18 games. Meanwhile, Easton Kirk is hitting .317 with six doubles and four home runs.
