MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State the road for a pair of contests against nationally ranked opponents this week in between Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series.
Alabama State (14-15) begins the week against No. 4 Alabama at Rhoads Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm on Tuesday (March 29), followed by a trip to Jane B. Moore Field to face No. 18 Auburn on Wednesday (March 30). The games will be the first against ranked opponents this season for Alabama State and will be the third matchup with a team from the SEC this season.
The Hornets enter the week following a series win over Jackson State in conference play and just days before a home series against Alabama A&M beginning Friday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

About the Hornets
- Alabama State will face their second and third SEC opponents of the season after dropping a doubleheader on the road to Mississippi State in Starkville (Miss.) earlier this season.
- Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.) leads the team in hitting at .424 on the season with 24 runs scored and seven extra base hits (four doubles and three triples). She has also stolen 21 bases (24 attempts) this season. Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) is second on the team in hitting at .408 with six doubles and 13 RBI.
- Alex Massie (Pottsboro, Texas) and Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) are each hitting over .300 on the season with Massie at .318 with four doubles. Preston is hitting .314 after a big weekend at the plate against Jackson State with 11 doubles and 14 RBI on the season.
- Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) has 9-7 record on the season with a 2.59 earned run average and a 1.07 WHIP. She has logged 102.2 innings in the circle with 81 strikeouts.
- Meanwhile, Ashley Pye (Stockton, Calif.) is 1-3 (4.08 ERA) and Elle Lunsford (Lawrenceville, Ga.) is 2-3 (2.14 ERA) on the season for the Hornets.
About the Crimson Tide
- Alabama enters the midweek contest with a 28-4 overall record after a sweep of South Carolina over the weekend.
- Ally Shipman leads the team in hitting at .395 with an OPS of 1.165 with 34 total hits, including nine doubles and five home runs, while Dallis Goodnight is hitting .375 with five extra base hits and 14 stolen bases.
- Jenna Johnson and Ashley Prange are each hitting over .300 on the season and have a combined seven home runs for an Alabama team that has 30 on the season.
- All-American Montana Fouts leads the team in the circle with 15-1 record and 1.76 ERA (.89 WHIP) and has struck out 155 batters in 91.2 innings. Meanwhile, Jaala Torrence is 5-1 with a 1.98 ERA with 42 strikeouts, while Lexi Kilfoyl has a 5-2 record with a 2.00 ERA.
The Series vs. Alabama
- The meeting will be the fifth all-time between the two schools on Tuesday with Alabama holding a 4-0 lead. The teams met three times during the 2021 season including a contest in Montgomery and a game at the NCAA Regionals.
About the Tigers
- Auburn enters the week at 27-4 following a series loss to Kentucky and have Florida this weekend in Auburn.
- The Tigers have seven hitters over .300 on the season including Carlee McCondichie at .420 in 31 games with 19 runs scored and 14 RBI. She also has four doubles, a triple, and three home runs.
- Nelia Peralta is hitting .373 with a team-high 30 RBI, while Denver Bryant is at .371 with 12 extra base hits including six home runs. Makayla Packer (.366) and Jessie Blaine (.338) have combined for 11 of the team's 50 home runs.
- Maddie Penta leads the team with a 17-2 record and 1.44 ERA, while Shelby Lowe is at 8-2 with a 1.90 ERA.
The Series vs. Auburn
- The meeting with the Tigers will be the 12th all-time between the two schools with Auburn having won the first 11. The two are scheduled to play in Montgomery later in the year.
