DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. | Alabama State opened play in the HBCU/TNBA Invitational with five consecutive wins to jump atop the leaderboard heading into day two of the tournament. The Hornets also cruised out to an early lead in pins, leading by just over 200 total and have a one game lead on three different teams – Alabama A&M, Southern, and Jackson State.

How it Happened
- Alabama State cruised out to an early lead in the tournament by winning all five matches and totaling 4,435 pins. They also finished day one with an average 177.4
- The Hornets grabbed the first match of the day with a 943-774 victory over Fayetteville State, winning all six games: before winning 892-812 over Bowie State in the second match of the day.
- Alabama State continued their run against Norfolk State with an 850-715 victory, before winning their fourth consecutive match of the day over Morgan State, 922-915. They completed the sweep with an 829-709 victory over Texas Southern.
