MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State looks to get back on track in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action when it hits the road to Jackson (Miss.) for a three-game series against Jackson State. The two met earlier this season with Alabama State winning two of three to claim the series.
Alabama State (16-22, 8-7 SWAC) has dropped their last two conference series to Alabama A&M (home) and Mississippi Valley State (away) and have dropped six of their nine games (two of which were against nationally ranked teams). The last time Alabama State and Jackson State met, the Hornets won the first and last game of the series to claim the win. The two teams have met 45 times since 2007 with Jackson State holding a 24-21 lead including 22 times in Jackson (14-8 Jackson State lead).
The Hornets enter the weekend tied with Jackson State and Florida A&M for second place in the division just one game behind Bethune-Cookman. The Hornets hold the tiebreaker over Jackson State and Florida A&M due to head-to-head results.
