MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alex Preston (Stockton, Calif.) hit a pair of home runs to help Alabama State celebrate Senior Day with a 6-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory on Saturday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
The two home runs by Preston are the first two for the first baseman this year and just the fifth for the Hornets in 2022, with all five coming in an 11-day period. She finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI, while
Kindall DeRamus (Helena, Ala.) finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) picked up her 11th victory of the season with a complete game scattering six hits and striking out three.
How It Happened
- B3 | Preston hit a two-run home run to left to score Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) for the early lead (2-0, Alabama State).
- B4 | DeRamus singled to left to drive in another run (3-0, Alabama State).
- B5 | Preston connected on her second home run before Morgan Gaither (Brookwood, Ala.), Jaeda Gardner (Pike Road, Ala.), and Arianna Atchley (Millbrook, Ala.) pulled off a triple steal for a run before Gardner scored on the overthrow (6-0, Alabama State).
