JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State dropped their final non-conference regular season game to Jacksonville State 4-0 on Wednesday night, a night prior to hosting No. 18 Auburn at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
Alabama State (18-27) fell behind early before Jacksonville State was able to pull away with a pair of runs in the third inning. The Hornets had a pair of chances to push a run across as they got runners to third on a pair of occasions, in the second and in the sixth inning.
Jazmine Dodd (Bentonville, Ark.) and
Arianna Atchley (Millbrook, Ala.) each picked up two hits in the loss, each finishing 2-for-3.
Ashley Pye (Stockton, Calif.), one of two pitchers used in the game, suffered the loss after working 4.0 innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits.
Bailey Greenlee (Snohomish, Wash.) came on the final 2.0 innings and allowed just one hit.
How It Happened
- B2 | Hannah Buffington doubled down the left field line to score the game's first run (1-0, Jacksonville State).
- B3 | Megan Fortner hit a solo home run to left center, before Abbi Perkins reached on an infield error allowing Addie Robinson to score (3-0, Jacksonville State).
- B4 | Fortner doubled to left to score the final run of the game (4-0, Jacksonville State).
