MOBILE, Ala. | Alabama State fell behind early before falling to South Alabama 10-0 in a non-conference road game at Stanky Field on Wednesday night, the first of two meetings between the two schools this season.
Alabama State had three chances to get on the board when they loaded the bases including in the third when
Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) walked before
Christian Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) singled up the middle and
Trenton Jamison (Atlanta, Ga.) reached on an infield error. They had a chance in the sixth when they loaded the bases following a pair of walks and a single by
Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR).
Alabama State had a chance to get on the board in the eighth inning yet again when they loaded the bases with two outs in the inning when Lewis walked, and Jamison was hit by a pitch, joining DeGuzman who singled up the middle.
The Hornets were held to three hits, with DeGuzman going 2-for-4 to lead the way. Alabama State (15-14) used seven different pitchers on the night in its only midweek game.
Ricardo Rivera (San Juan, PR) earned the start in the contest before suffering the loss, working 2.0 innings and allowing one run off two hits in the loss.

- B3 | Will Turner singled through the right side to score the game's first run, driving in Hunter Stokes, before scoring on a single to left by Santi Montiel (2-0, South Alabama).
- B4 | Diego Altamirano drove in a run with a bunt back to the mound to score Cameron Tissue (3-0, South Alabama).
- B5 | Charles Middleton reached on an infield error that allowed Turner to score, before scoring on a Kasey Donaldson single (5-0, South Alabama).
- B6 | South Alabama extended the lead with a Miles Simington home run to center before Joseph Sullivan singled through the right side to drive home another run (7-0, South Alabama).
- B8 | Montiel scored on a wild pitch before Joe Sutton doubled to right center to drive in a pair of runs (10-0, South Alabama).
