MADISON, Ala. | Alabama State dropped its regular season finale on the road to Alabama A&M 10-7 on Saturday, ending the season as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division champions.
Alabama State (30-23, 21-8 SWAC) grabbed the early lead before falling behind the Bulldogs and rallying late to pull to within three. The Hornets hit the road to Regions Field in Birmingham (Ala.) as the top seed from the East in the conference tournament, with opponents and times being announced in the coming days.
Four different players ended the day with multiple hits including
Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR) going 2-for-4 with a run scored, while
Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) also finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Jabronski Williams (Troy, Ala.) finished 2-for-2, while
Ian Matos (Toa Alta, PR) finished 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Christian Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) hit a home run for the Hornets, his only hit of the day.
Austin King (Fulton, Miss.), the first of five pitchers on the day, suffered the loss after working 2.0 innings and allowing five runs (all earned) on six hits with three strikeouts.

- B1 | Tim Dixon singled to right to drive in the first run for the Bulldogs before Tommy Easley gave them the lead with an RBI double (2-1, Alabama A&M).
- T2 | Lopez hit a solo shot to left (2-2).
- B2 | Nemo Wright doubled in a run for the Bulldogs (3-2, Alabama A&M).
- B3 | Easley singled home a run before Teddy Bridges hit in a double play that brought in a run (5-2, Alabama A&M).
- B4 | Trevor Berkemeyer singled up the middle to drive in another run (6-2, Alabama A&M).
- T5 | Lewis doubled up the middle to drive in a run (6-3, Alabama A&M).
- B5 | CJ Mervilus collected an RBI on a single to right (7-3, Alabama A&M).
- T6 | King drove in Lopez on a double play (7-4, Alabama A&M).
- B6 | Berkemeyer hit a sacrifice fly to right to get the lead back to four, before Dillon Roop singled to center to drive in a pair of runs (10-4, Alabama A&M).
- T8 | Kyler McIntosh (Columbus, Ind.) reached on a fielder's choice driving in a run (10-5, Alabama A&M).
- T9 | Trenton Jamison (Atlanta, Ga.) singled to left center before Matos drove in the final run of the game with an infield single (10-7, Alabama A&M).

Alabama State begins play in the SWAC Championship Tournament at Regions Field in Birmingham (Ala.) on Wednesday as the No. 1 seed from the East Division. The bracket, times, and opponents will be released by the conference office at the conclusion of the regular season.
