Hornets host UAB in midweek contest, begins four-game home stand

The meeting will be the second of the year between the two

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home for a four-game homestand beginning Tuesday night against UAB with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. Tickets are still available by calling the ASU Ticket Office at (334) 229-4551 or by visiting BamaStateSports.com, they can also be purchased on the day of the game.

Alabama State (24-21) and UAB (27-19) met earlier this season with the Blazers winning the first meeting 3-2 back on March 9. The Blazers lead the series 31-6, including a 13-6 advantage in Montgomery.

About the Hornets

The Hornets have three hitters over .300 including Corey King (Lithonia, Ga.) who is hitting .360 and has a 1.058 OPS with nine doubles and a team-high 11 home runs. He has scored 47 runs and has recorded 46 RBIs. Hunter May (Slidell, La.) is hitting .326 with a team-high 17 doubles.
Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) is hitting .317 on the season, while Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR) is hitting .295 on the season.
Alabama State has a 5.19 team earned run average with 380 strikeouts in 386.2 innings.

About the Blazers

Offensively, Christian Hall continues to lead the Blazers in batting average (.370), OPS (1.026), hits (57), total bases (91) and slugging percentage (.591). Darryl Buggs, who has started 24 conference games, leads the Blazers with a .325 batting average in league play.
On the mound, UAB ranks third in Conference USA with a 4.47 team earned run average. Eleven different Blazer pitchers have earned pitching victories this season, highlighted by freshman reliever Thomas Ballard, who holds a team-best 6-1 record in 19 appearances.
