HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Hornets traveled to the North Alabama Showcase on Friday, September 16th, 2022. ASU raced in their second competition of the season which consisted of 45 collegiate teams and 825 entries between the men and women.
The ASU men raced their first 8K (7:30 a.m.) of the season as well as the women with their first 5K (8:15) at the North Alabama Showcase on Friday, September 13th, 2022.
In the 8K men's race, Jon Coulter (28:22.20) and Christian Myles (28:49.20) placed in the top 300. Amos Beadle (29:01.49) barely missed the top 300 placing in 305th. Rounding up the competition for the Hornets was Khabeeba Mills (30:44.72) and Preston Walton (31:54.36) staying in the top 350.
Shamia Jones (19:39.08) led the way for the Lady Hornets, placing in the top 225 ahead of conference rival Alabama A&M. Jones, followed by teammates Taliah Wickett (22:59.62) and Deleverna Broomfield as they placed in the top 360 of the competition. Rounding up the Lady Hornets was Yazmin Grace (26:47.68) placing in 373th, Zackariya Beasley (27:52.71) placing in 379th, and Jasmine Kennerson (33:20.67) placing in 382th.
