Razor Finishes First Overall, Lady Hornets Place Fourth at SWAC Round Up

D'LBERVILLE, Miss. | In the first tournament of 2023, the Alabama State women's bowling team finished in fourth place out of an eight-team field at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Round Up at Cypress Lanes. The weekend's highlight was Alabama State junior Savanna Razor finishing first overall out of 50 bowlers with an average round of 220. 

The Lady Hornets started day two with a 1,002-854 victory over conference-foe Alabama A&M, followed by a 1,064-968 loss to Texas Southern, and a loss 1,037-963 loss to Prairie View A&M. Alabama State was able to turn it around though as they picked up two straight wins over Southern (1,064-919) and Alabama A&M (1,020-1,010) before falling to Texas Southern 1,019-1,002. 

ASU bowled an average game of 195.4 and finished the tournament with an 8-6 record overall, and 13,677 total pinfalls.

Savanna Razor led all bowlers with an average game of 220 to finish the tournament in first overall. Lyric O'Steen joined Razor in the top 10 with a fourth-place finish and a 208.6 average game. Bailee Chapman rounds out the Lady Hornets in the top 10 as she finished sixth overall (192.57). Zoe Moore finished 17th with a 178.43 average followed by her teammate Emani Davis in 18th after bowling an average game of 177.50.

The Lady Hornets return to the lanes on Friday, February 3, 2023, for the SWAC East Round Up in D'lberville, Mississippi.
