HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ian Matos doubled and scored on a Jack Hay double to put the Hornets ahead 1-0 in the first inning.
- Jeremy Carcia hit a three-run home run to put BCU ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
- Jamal George doubled and scored on a Randy Flores sacrifice fly to cut the BCU lead to 3-2 in the third inning.
- Alabama State turned a triple play that cut a run down at home plate to end the fourth inning and keep the BCU lead at 3-2.
- BCU took advantage of an error to plate a run and take a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning.
- Corey King singled home Matos to trim BCU's advantage to 4-3 in the top of the sixth.
- The Wildcats added two runs in the eighth to build a 6-3 lead heading into the ninth inning.
- Ali Lapread belted a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the ninth to get the Hornets within a run, 6-5.
ON THE MOUND
- ASU starter, Kyler McIntosh (1-2) tossed 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits with a strikeout as the pitcher of record for the Hornets.
- Louis Lipthratt (3-1) went 6.0 innings, giving up two runs on three hits with three strikeouts to get the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Lapread's two-run homer was his second of the season and the Hornets' SWAC-best 27th round-tripper of the year.
- Jayden Sloan was the only Hornet with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 with a double.
- Matos, Jack Hay, and Jamal George had doubles for ASU.
