NEW ORLEANS, La. | David Jeanne Grandinot was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player oof the Year and Alabama State placed six players on the all-conference team announced on Friday.
Grandinot, who was the 2022 SWAC Freshman of the Year, also earned first team honors at number one singles after finishing the season 11-4 overall including a perfect 3-0 in conference play. The sophomore recorded a 7-3 mark at the top singles spots and a 4-1 record at number two singles, Grandinot also finished 9-4 in doubles.
He was joined on the first team by
Ruan Du Preez,
Matis Amier,
Kristofer Johnson and
Juan Rodriguez, while
Samrakshyak Bajracharya earn second team honors.
Du Preez earned first team honors at number two singles posting a 4-0 mark in conference play while finishing 8-10 overall.
Matis Amier earned first team laurels at number four after a 5-10 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference play including a three-match winning streak to close the season. Johnson was also named first team at number five singles going 9-7 overall and 3-0 in SWAC play. Rodriguez garnered first team honors at number six singles, posting 5-4 mark and 2-1 SWAC record.
Bajracharya earns second-team honors at number three where he finished 5-10 overall on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
