INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Alabama State University's Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Stephanie Thompson has received an appointment to the National Collegiate Athlletic Association's High School Review Committee. Thompson's term of service on the committee starts July 01, 2023, and continues through June 30, 2027.
"It's an honor to be appointed to the NCAA High School Review Committee," Thompson said. "I look forward to serving the next four years and working with my fellow committee constitutes in establishing policies and procedures for the greater good of the student-athlete and the NCAA."
The NCAA High School Review Committee ("HSRC") establishes the policies and procedures related to the academic review of high schools and to determine the validity of a high school (e.g., core courses, curriculum, grades) for the purpose of meeting initial eligibility requirements.
The NCAA is a membership-driven association and is governed by more than 170 committees with almost 1,800 committee members from NCAA institutions and conferences. Association-wide committees are comprised of individuals from all three divisions and consider issues that affect the NCAA across all divisions. In addition, each division has a committee structure in place that addresses issues from a divisional perspective.
The NCAA committee or governing body, you agree to:
- Sustain and advance the Association's mission, traditions, values and reputation.
- Regularly participate in committee meetings and conference calls, prepared and well informed.
- Disclose promptly and fully any potential or actual conflicts of interest, and personally maintain exemplary ethical standards. (See Conflict of Interest Policy information below.) Please note, you may not participate in any meetings until the conflicts of interest form has been submitted.
- Commit to serve the Association as a whole rather than any part of it or any personal or political cause.
- Support the consensus of the committee after fully exercising the responsibility to debate and disagree.
- Maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate.
- Serve as an advocate for the Association while only speaking publicly on behalf of the committee as authorized to do so consistent with the NCAA Speaking Agent Policy.
