MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State swept Tuskegee in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, winning game one 4-3 in walk-off fashion before run-ruling the Golden Tigers 8-0 in five at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on Wednesday.
Alexia Denby finished game one 3-for-4 with three runs batted in, while
Jaeda Gardner and
Kelsey Long each picked up a pair of hits in the walk-off win. The Lady Hornets stole four bases in the win.
Ana Richiez (1-0) picked up her first collegiate win working the final inning, the third of three pitchers, of scoreless relief.

Alabama State (5-6) pounded out 10 hits with four players picking up multiple hits in the win including Smiley who finished 2-for-3. Gardner picked up a pair of hits and a pair of RBI, while Ramsey finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Long 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI.
Richiez (2-0) picked up her second win of the day, working 3.0 innings and striking out three.
Charity Bibbs came on in relief to pick up the save, working the final 2.0 innings allowing just one hit, and recording a pair of strikeouts.
How It Happened (Game 1)
- (T1) Jada Chadwick drove in the game's first run on an RBI groundout, Tuskegee 1-0.
- (T3) Caroline Clark drove in a pair with a single to center, Tuskegee 3-0.
- (B5) Alana Scott singled to right to drive in Kendall Smiley for the Lady Hornets' first run before Denby singled to right to drive in a pair of runs and tie the game, 3-3.
- (B7) Denby singled to center to drive in the winning run, Alabama State 4-3.
How It Happened (Game 2)
- (B1) Richiez reached on a fielder's choice driving in Smiley before Gardner reached on a fielder's choice to drive in another run. The Lady Hornets scored two more on RBI singles by Brooke Ramsey and Long, Alabama State 4-0.
- (B3) Gardner singled in Bibbs before Long tripled Gardner in from first. Long came in to score on a Jasmine Rogers single up the middle, Alabama State 7-0.
- (B5) Ramsey walked off Tuskegee with a double down the left field line to score Gardner, Alabama State 8-0.
