MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off Samford 3-2 at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Alabama State (8-7) trailed Samford after a two-run fifth inning before
Alana Scott singled through the left side to drive home the first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh with one out. The Lady Hornets added two more when
Mickey Coslor put the ball in play to third leading to a throwing error and two runs coming across to win the game.
The Lady Hornets were held to two hits, one by
Kendall Smiley before the hit by Scott in the seventh.
Ana Richiez (3-0) picked up her third win in a week working the final 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit.
Charity Bibbs started the game and worked the first 5.0 innings and allowed two runs (none earned) on four hits with five strikeouts.
How It Happened
- (T5) Logan Champion singled up the middle to score Sarah Squillance before stealing home on a double steal, Samford 2-0.
- (B7) Scott singled through the left side to score Alora Bevily before Coslor reached on a throwing error that scored Bevily and Scott, Alabama State 3-2.
