Lady Hornets 4x400 Relay Claims Meet Championship at Florida Relays

GAINSEVILLE, Fla. | The Alabama State men's and women's track and field teams held its own against a nationally ranked field at the Florida Relays this weekend.
 
Alabama State claimed the 4x400 men's relay title and the women's relay team brought home gold in the 4x400 relay.
 
The Hornets and Lady Hornets saw four season-bests and five personal records set during the meet.  
 
MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jamarion Stubbs, Vaughn DeVaughn III, Joshua Knox, and Daquan Tate claimed the College Meet Champion in the 4x400. Their time of 3:06.86 was a season-best and a new school record.
  • Jamarion Stubbs finished second in the 100m with a personal record time of 10.18.
  • Joshua Knox was sixth in the 400m with a personal record time of 46.83.
  • Daquan Tate claimed eighth in the 400m with a season-best 46.87.
  • Vaughn DeVaughn III ran a personal-record 51.62 in the 400m Hurdles to claim seventh.
  • Amos Beadle clocked a season-best 1:52.43 in the 800m.
  • Seth Stockton finished 11th in the long jump with jump of 6.73m
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
  • Quincy Penn, Taliah Wickett, Nauti'ka Robinson, and Shamia Jones were the College Meet Champions in the 4x400 with a season-best 3:39.29.
  • Penn placed fourth in the 400m with a personal-record 51.91.
  • Jaqual Bush posted a personal-record 23.35 to claim 10th in the 200m.
  • Nauti'ka Robinson's 54.48 set a new personal record in the 400m.
  • Emani Perri clocked a personal record 1:03.54 in the 400m Hurdles.
  • Natyia Alexandre's 1:03.58 was a personal-best in the 400m Hurdles.
  • Taisha Benjamin finished seventh in the Steeplechase with an 11:57.07.
  • Shawnakay Peart timed a personal-record 11.73 in the 100m.
  • Rasunek Tyler-Thompson set a person-best in the 100m with a 11.72.
  • Yazmin Grace's 12.03m in the triple jump was her season best.
 
UP NEXT: The Hornets and Lady Hornets compete in the USC Open on April 20 in Columbia, South Carolina.
