'Bama State Baseball Sweeps Twin Bill From Southern

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BATON ROUGE, La. | Alabama State University (8-5) combined for 22 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Southern University (3-9) on Saturday at Lee Hines Field.

Alabama State plated nine runs on 18 hits to win the opener 9-1 and collected 13 runs on 17 hits for a 13-5 win in the nightcap.

Jack Hay went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI and Jamal Georgie homered and had three RBI to lead the Hornets offensively in game one.

Jorhan LaBoy (2-1) gave up a run and scattered three hits with four strikeouts over 8.0 innings to earn the win on the mound.

Jaden Brasseaux (2-1) suffered the loss after surrendering four runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings pitched.

Kyler McIntosh collected four hits with an RBI, and Flores was 3-for-5 with a homer to lead ASU's 17-hit attack in game two.

Jack Hay, Cristian Lopez, and Isaiah Landry had two hits apiece, and Ali LaPread had a two-run home run.

Luis Rodriguez (1-2) struck out nine while allowing three runs on two hits to earn the game-two win for ASU.

Starter Renard Grace (2-2) was the pitcher of record for Southern, yielding six runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings.
