Several Records Fall in Vanderbilt Invitational

Nashville, TN – Alabama State athletes delivered a series of personal record-breaking performances at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, this past weekend.

Women's Highlights:

  • Selket Reid-El continued her stellar indoor season, setting a new personal best in the mile with a time of 5:11.98.
  • Angelique Degboe also posted a personal best in the mile, finishing in 5:26.90.
  • Emani Perry recorded her best-ever performance in the triple jump, reaching 11.44 meters.
  • Destini Lewis set a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.47 meters.
  • Rasunek Tyler-Thompson ran a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.43 seconds.

Men's Highlights:

  • Jamarion Stubbs broke the school record and set a personal best in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 6.69 seconds.
  • Demarco Thompson hit a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.08 seconds.
  • Isaiah Riggins set personal bests in both the long jump (7.17 meters) and triple jump (14.77 meters).
  • Brayden Irhuegbae cleared 2.03 meters in the high jump, setting a personal best and ranking him #1 in Canadaand 18th in the world.

Next Up:

Alabama State will look to carry this momentum into their next meet, the Bob Pollock Invitational on January 31 in Clemson, South Carolina, hosted by the Clemson Tigers.
