BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University freshman Talee Sims was honored as the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Softball Newcomer of the Week announced on Wed., Feb. 12, 2025.

Sims played and started in five games in the opening weekend of the season. The Wedowee, Ala., native hit .500 (7-for-14) with a double and two RBI while Slugging .571 with an .583 on base percentage.  Sims' two-run single in the bottom of the seventh erased a 4-1 deficit against UNA last Saturday.
