NEW ORLEANS, La. | Alabama State University's
David Jeanne Grandinot was selected for the second straight year as the SWAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year at the pre tournament awards ceremeony on Thursday.
Overall, six Hornets, four first team and two second team, earned All-SWAC honors. Grandinot was joined by Alex Verlaguet, Grodan Fran Mileusnic and Mette Lataste on the first team while
Lun Obrul,
Matis Amier and
Matis Amier nabbed second team laurels.
Grandinot went 13-3 overall at No. 1 singles and 3-0 in the SWAC with several matches being pulled due to dual matches being clinched. Grandinot went 8-6 overall and 3-0 with Lataste at No. 2 doubles.
Verlaguet played No. 2 going 8-5 overall and 2-0 in SWAC play while posting a 9-9 mark and a 3-0 mark the SWAC at No. 1 doubles.
Gordan Fran Mileusnic went 3-0 in conference play and 6-8 overall between No. 4-No. 6 singles. He went 11-8 overall and 2-0 in the SWAC at No. 3 doubles.
Lataste was 2-10 overall and 1-0 in the SWAC in singles, playing between No. 4-No. 6 singles. Lataste teamed with Grandinot to go 8-6 and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Lun Obrul went 8-4 overall including a 5-2 mark at No. 3 singles. Oburl teamed up with Mileusni to go 12-8 overall and 3-0 in the SWAC at No. 3 doubles.
Amier went 4-2 down the stretch to post a 6-10 mark at No. 4 singles. He was 2-0 in the SWAC with several matches being pulled due to dual matches being clinched. Amier and doubles partner Verlaguet posted. 9-9 record and a 3-0 SWAC mark at No. 1 doubles.
