KATY, Texas | The Alabama State University women's golf team placed fifth overall at the 2026 WGIF Women In Golf Invitational, highlighted by an outstanding individual performance from Carmen Fletcher, who finished second in the field.
Alabama State posted a three-round team total of 930 (305-314-303), moving up one spot on the final day to secure a top-five finish against a competitive national field.
Howard University claimed the team title with an 889, followed by Southern University (905), Jackson State (920), and Prairie View A&M (922), just ahead of the Hornets.
Fletcher Leads the Way
Fletcher delivered one of the top performances of the tournament, finishing second overall with a three-round score of 219 (72-73-74), just two strokes behind medalist Salma Ibrahim of Southern University.
Her consistent play across all three rounds kept her firmly in contention throughout, anchoring Alabama State's lineup and providing the low round in each of the final two days.
