BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University catcher Trey Callaway was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Hitter and Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. 

Callaway led Alabama State to a 3-1 week, batting. 467 over four starts behind the plate. He belted three home runs with a double, seven RBI, and five runs scored. He also slugged 1.113, had a .529 on-base percentage, and threw out one attempted base stealer. In the MVSU series, he hit .538 and slugged 1.308 with a .571 on-base percentage. He finished with a double, three home runs, and seven RBI in the weekend series. In the series opener, Callaway had two home runs, a double, and four RBI. In game three, Callaway belted a two-run homer with two run scored while going 2-for-4.
