BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University outfielder Miguel Oropeza and hurler Jorhan LaBoy were honored as the SWAC Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Oropeza hit .471 over four games, helping the Hornets go 2-2 on the week. Orapeza went 8-for-17 at the plate with two doubles, one triple, one home run, and seven RBI. The Aragua, Venezuela, native, went 5-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored, and five RBI in a 14-10 win to open the UAPB series. Oropeza went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a double in a 9-4 win in game two. He finished the UAPB series 8-for-14 with six RBI, two doubles, a triple, a home run, and five runs scored. He also filed 1.000 in five field chances.

Laboy went 1-0 on the week, earning the win in the series-clinching game two victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Laboy worked 7.0 innings, allowing one run and scattering seven hits with six strikeouts against one walk on the night. After yielding a run in the third inning, Laboy tossed the next 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball before turning the game over to the bullpen.
