Alabama State Cross Country Opens 2026 Season at Foothills Invitational
OXFORD, Ala. | September 4, 2026 — The Alabama State University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season Friday at the Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama, with several strong individual performances in the 5,000-meter races.
In the men's 5,000-meter race, Jaquan Coke paced the Hornets with a time of 17:49.2. Bryson Lewis followed with an 18:11.5 finish, while Ainsley Campbell recorded a time of 18:26.4.
Jasiah Clapp crossed the finish line in 18:46.3, followed by Harold Elam at 19:49.8 and Samir Illidge at 20:23.9.
On the women's side, Aliyah Williams led Alabama State with a time of 19:48.2 in the 5,000-meter race.
Abigail Richardson posted a personal-best time of 21:12.4, while Alisha Boyer recorded a season-best 21:23.3. Malaya Johnson rounded out the Hornets' competitors with a personal-best time of 21:28.9.
The Foothills Invitational marked the beginning of the Hornets' 2026 campaign, giving both squads an opportunity to establish an early-season benchmark as they prepare for the remainder of the schedule.
