BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—
Vincent Butler and
Tyrisha Chambers of the Alabama State University men's and women's track and field teams, have been named the Men's and Women's Indoor Runners of the Week.
Tyrisha Chambers has earned SWAC Runner of the Week for week two Indoor Track and Field. A sophomore, Chambers earned 3,565 points in the pentathlon event, finishing second, at the Birmingham Invitational on February 1st. The Kansas City native rounded out the meet grabbing five additional top-ten finishes in the 24-team invitational, including sixth place in the 800m run, fifth place in the 60m hurdles, and finishing second in the high jump, ninth in the long jump, and seventh in the shot put.
Hornet senior
Vincent Butler earned SWAC Runner of the Week for week two. Butler also had a solid weekend at the Birmingham Invitational, finishing second in the 400m dash with a time of 48.33. He also ran the first leg of ASU's 4x400m relay, helping lead the Hornets to a fifth place finish with a time of 3:22.45. Butler hails from Douglasville, Ga.
