MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama State University Track and Field will be represented by seven student-athletes at the 2026 NCAA East Preliminary Round in Lexington, Kentucky, following a strong outdoor season that produced multiple regional qualifying performances.
The Hornets earned nine event qualifications across sprints, middle distance, and jumps as the program continues to build momentum on the national stage.
Leading the way is Isaiah Riggins, who qualified in both the men's long jump and triple jump. Riggins posted marks of 7.59 meters in the long jump and 16.01 meters in the triple jump to secure his place among the East Region's top competitors.
Anthony Woods also earned qualification in two events after recording a 7.63-meter mark in the long jump and a 15.71-meter leap in the triple jump. Seth Stockton added another NCAA regional mark in the triple jump with a jump of 15.55 meters, while Daedrian Beville qualified in the same event with a mark of 13.22 meters.
On the women's side, Rasunek Tyler-Thompson and Jada Chevalier both qualified in the 100-meter hurdles after clocking times of 13.08 and 13.41 seconds, respectively. Aliyah Williams secured her regional berth in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:04.87.
Alabama State NCAA East Regional Qualifiers
The NCAA East Preliminary Round will take place May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky, with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
