ATLANTA, Ga. — Alabama State University track and field delivered a strong showing at the Georgia Tech Invitational, highlighted by a school record, a meet title, and multiple personal-best performances.
In the field events, Erica McGary etched her name in the record books with a 47.92m throw in the discus, setting a new Alabama State school record. McGary's mark also led a group of standout performances in the throws, as Amaya Burrows recorded a personal-best 46.90m in the same event.
On the track, Aliyah Williams captured a meet championship in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:06.63 to pace the Lady Hornets.
Alabama State also saw impressive efforts in the jumps and sprints. Isaiah Riggins posted a pair of personal bests, soaring 7.59m in the long jump and clocking 21.56 seconds in the 200 meters.
The Hornets continued to build momentum in relay action, with the 4x400-meter relay squad turning in a season-best 3:38.43, led by Lundon Johnson and company.
Alabama State will look to carry this momentum forward as the outdoor season progresses, continuing to stack championship-level performances across events.
