Final NCAA East Regional Results
Alabama State University's women's golf team shot a school region record 308 on the final day of the NCAA East Region to finish with a 937, another region and team 54-hole record. "They definitely had their best regional so far and have plenty of room to grow," Head Coach
Dr. Gary Grandison said. "The scores should have been a lot lower, but they represented well."
ASU was led for the third consecutive day by Jenelle Kraakman who tied her career-low round with a 73. She also broke her three-day low score with a 223. Her previous best was a 228. Kraakman also finished tied for 55
th among the individuals which is the best regional individual finish for any Lady Hornet golfer.
Sylvia Masango got better each day and finished today with a 76. She also set a new three-day score with a 239.
Dismary Marquez's second 77 of the regional pushed her total to a 235 which was second on the team.
Brooklyn Kraakman shot a round of 80 today and finished with a 240 while Shannon Spinuzzi shot an 83 and finished with a 261.
"It's a testament to how the ladies represented Alabama State University," Grandison said. "This was a team effort to finish with a 308. It's a step in the right direction and they were actually in position to break 300 and when a team puts itself in position to break 300 it is definitely a step forward."
