CARY, N.C. | The Alabama State University women's golf team earned a third-place finish at the SAS HBCU Invitational, held October 10–12 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina. The Hornets posted a three-round total of 924 (+84) on the 5,843-yard, par-70 layout.
North Carolina A&T claimed the team title with a score of 884 (+44), followed by North Carolina Central in second at 907 (+67). Alabama State finished comfortably in third, 12 shots ahead of fourth-place Texas Southern (925) and well clear of fifth-place Southern (952).
Leading the way for Alabama State was Thayika Kittiyanaruewat, who earned a seventh-place finish with a total of 227 (+17). Kittiyanaruewat rebounded from an opening-round 80 (+10) to post rounds of 73 (+3) and 74 (+4) to secure her top-10 result.
Sophomores Carmen Fletcher and Kierra Williams tied for ninth at 231 (+21). Fletcher opened with rounds of 77 (+7) and 74 (+4) before closing with an 80 (+10), while Williams followed a first-round 81 (+11) with consistent 75s (+5) over the final two rounds.
Yaiza Fernandez finished tied for 15th with a 235 (+25), highlighted by a second-round 76 (+6). Lindsey Christiana Marcellus rounded out the Hornet lineup in 25th place, shooting 250 (+40).
