BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State's Jaime Brown has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Track and Field athlete of the week following a strong effort during season-opening competition.
Brown won the long jump at Purdue's Gene Edmonds Open, beating out multiple Power Five athletes with a leap of 7.40m. The mark is good for the top spot among SWAC performance ranks this season. Additionally, the senior finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 13.69m.
The senior from Raleigh, N.C. native opened the season with a second place finish in the long jump (6.96 m) at the Birmingham Southern Icebreaker. Additionally, he posted an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.85 meters.
