BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State closed out the Samford tournament at the Crossplex with another flurry of top five finishes.
 
WOMEN

• Bridgett Williams finished fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.20 meters
• Ulani Toussaint (57.80) and Kyana Evans (57.81) finished second and third respectively in the 400m while freshman Amari Newsom (58.37) crossed the finish line in seventh place
• Nia Jack sprinted to a first place finish in the 60m with a time of 7.54
• Ariayanna Val turned in a time of 8.92 seconds in the 60m hurdles, grabbing second in the process

MEN

• Caesar Kemp (16.50m) notched second-place in the shot put
• Marcus Cade (2.00m) and Jamie Brown (1.95m) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the high jump
• Norris Spike (6.82 seconds) and David East (6.89) finished second and fifth, respectively in the 60m dash
• Andrew Jackson finished sixth in the 1000m run (2:36.56)

UP NEXT

• Alabama State will make a quick turnaround with the KMS Invitational (January 27) next week at the Crossplex.
