DALLAS, Texas | Alabama State won its first tournament of the season in dominating fashion at the SWAC West RoundUp, winning three games Sunday en route to an 11-1 weekend record.
The 11th win Sunday against Alabama A&M (964 – 729) gave head coach
Andrew Chatmon No. 500 for his career.
"The ladies had a phenomenal weekend," Chatmon said. "Execution was at a premium and it was the best we've performed all year long. I am very proud of them."
Alabama State (41-36) was locked in during the final round, bowling a 1,092 and 1,065 as a part of its four matches to finish with 12,957 total pins. Following the strong performance, the Lady Hornets 185.1 pins per match were the highest among all teams.
Senior

Allison Sledge (sixth place) was also equally instrumental in the Lady Hornets run to the championship, bowling three games over 200 (262, 254, 213) and narrowly missing a perfect game in the process.
