DAVENPORT, Fla. | Alabama State wrapped up its lone winter tournament of the season at Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club with resounding success.
The Lady Hornets took home their first team title of the season behind a cumulative 651 (329-322), and the men finished three shots out of first with a second-place finish to give them five, top-five results this season.
Noteworthy
The Lady Hornets were paced by three top-five finishers, with
Kei Harris taking home the trophy for individual honors following a cumulative +10 (78 – 76 = 154). Freshman
Ben Swaffield continued to deliver for the men, grabbing his second individual championship trophy following a two-day result of three-over par (71-76 = 147). Four Hornets finished in the top-20.
Shania Jones (T2) and
Mack Bailey (T4) also provided strong performances, with each golfer firing a cumulative +16 and +18, respectively. Freshman
Abigail Pederson turned in another top-15 result with an 11
th place finish and
Tia Kimbrough placed 17
th. The Lady Hornets tallied seven birdies on the final day of action.
Thacher Neal posted a final round 75, notching the second top-five result of his career.
Afnan Chowdhury (T17),
Mbongeni Maphosa Jr. (T17) and
Noel Sims (28
th) each proved critical to the Hornets success. The Hornets grabbed 13 birdies in the final round, with all players recording at least two.
What's Next
The Hornets return home February 24-26 for the annual ASU Spring Golf Kickoff.
