D'IBERVILLE, Miss. | Alabama State used strong efforts from
Alize Stevenson and class
Allison Sledge on the second day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference RoundUp to maintain its hold on first-place in the league.
The Lady Hornets (59-40, 17-4) picked up wins over Alabama A&M (1,070 - 740), Southern (1,112 - 1,046) and Grambling (999 - 665) before dropping a heartbreaker to Jackson State (1,086 - 1,063).
Despite a second-place overall standing in the current tournament with a 6-3 record, Alabama State still holds the top-spot in total pins (10,430) and pins per game average (208.6).
Alabama State leads Prairie View A&M by one game heading into tomorrow's final day and leads the SWAC with an average of 194.89 pins per game and 23,387 total pins.
Noteworthy
Alabama State placed five bowlers in the top-15.
Sledge (207.05) and Stevenson (205.53) are in second and third place, respecitvely.
Haley Young (fifth),
Bailee Chapman (13th) and
Gabrielle Hosein (14th) all propelled Alabama State to its second-place standing.

"We bowled well today and are still in first in the conference," Alabama State head coach
Andrew Chatmon said. "The ladies showed a lot of fight and determination battling today; the regular season championship will basically come down to one game tomorrow between us and Prairie View A&M. We have had several individual stellar performances, but this is a team sport and all must step up."
