D'IBERVILLE, Miss. | Alabama State picked up three wins on the second day of the TNBA/HBCU Invite hosted by Jackson State Saturday.
The Lady Hornets opened the day with a 905-824 victory over Virginia State, before dropping a match to Texas Southern 1037-927 to open the day 1-1. The answered back with a 1002-697 victory over Alabama A&M to post a winning record through three matches.
After dropping a 984-955 decision to Florida A&M, Alabama State answered with a 962-726 victory over Grambling State for their third victory of the day.
Several bowlers record 200-plus scores on the day for the Lady Hornets in traditional play Saturday.
Haley Young posted a 212 in the opening game of the day against Virginia State, while
Alize Stevenson recorded the first of two on the day in the same match with a 200. Gabby Hosein posted one of four consecutive 200-games against Texas Southern with a 212, while Stevenson recorded her second consecutive at 214 – her high on the day.
Bailee Chapman became the fourth bowler of the day to reach 200, finishing with a 227 against Alabama A&M; while Hosein posted a 209. The duo struck again with identical 204 scores against Florida A&M, while
Allison Sledge recorded her high of the day at 212 in the same game. Hosein finished off the day with a team-high score of 254 against Grambling State in the final match of the day.
Alabama State closes out play in the tournament Sunday with best-of-seven matches.
