GREENSBORO, N.C. | Alabama State captured one of their three matches at the Aggie Invitational, defeating North Carolina Central by two in their final match of the tournament.
Alabama State dropped their first match of the tournament to Appalachian State 4-1 after halving a pair of matches.
Hallie Bridgers (Baltimore, Md.) halved her match with Layla Meric, while
Tia Kimbrough (Bellville, Ill.) halved her match with Hannah Wang to pick up the point for the Lady Hornets.
McKenzie LeDuff (Lake Charles, La.) and
Teresa Diez Dorta (Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Spain) dropped their matches 5&4 respectively, while
Katie Robinson (American Canyon, Calif.) dropped her match 4&3 in the opening round.
The Lady Hornets dropped their second-round match to Howard, 3.5-1.5 with Diez Dorta picking up a win over Kendal Abrams 8&6 to earn a fill point for Alabama State. Meanwhile, Robinson halved her match with Makenna Rodriguez for the final margin.
Alabama State picked up a win in their final match of the tournament 3.5-1.5 over North Carolina Central with Kimbrough picking up 7&6 win over Renassance Baker to pick up a full point. She was joined by Robinson with a 9&7 win over Fatima Smith, while Diez Dorte picked up a 6&4 win over Zoe Key. Meanwhile, LeDuff closed out her week halving her match.
Each member of the team picked up a point throughout the Aggie Invitational with Diez Dorte finishing the week with 2-1 record.
